Chapter 5 - The Reunion at DawnThe private medical facility on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean was shrouded in a thick morning fog. As Declan’s black convoy swept through the iron security gates, the first rays of golden sunlight pierced the horizon, painting the gray coastline in brilliant shades of amber and rose.

Penny woke up as the vehicle slowed to a halt, rubbing her sleepy green eyes and looking around with wide wonder. "Mommy, are we at the castle?"

"We're visiting your papa, sweetie," Mia whispered, her voice choking with emotion as she straightened the little girl's pale blue dress and smoothed her hair.

The heavy oak doors of the clinic swung open. Standing in the entryway, leaning slightly against a polished walnut cane, was a man wearing a dark woolen sweater. His face was pale, marked by a faded scar along his left temple, but his eyes—those unmistakable, bright green eyes—were alive with a fierce, burning light.

Aaron Sebastian Shaw froze as his gaze landed on the little girl stepping out of the car.

"Daddy!" Penny shrieked, breaking free of her mother's hand and sprinting across the cobblestone courtyard just as she had done in the ballroom the night before.

Aaron dropped his cane, falling heavily to his knees just in time to catch his daughter as she threw her arms around his neck, burying her face into his shoulder. A choked sob broke from Aaron's throat as he wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in her dark curls, rocking back and forth against the cold stone.

Mia stepped forward, her hands trembling as she stopped a few feet away. Aaron looked up, his tear-filled eyes locking onto hers.

"You found me," Aaron whispered, his voice rough from disuse.

"We didn't find you," Mia said, a tear slipping down her cheek as she smiled through the pain of the past month. "Penny did."

Declan stood a few paces back, leaning against the side of the lead vehicle with his arms crossed over his chest, watching the reunion unfold. For four years, he had believed that love was a weakness, that family was a vulnerability, and that trust was an illusion sold to fools.

As Aaron stood up, holding Penny in one arm and pulling Mia into his embrace with the other, he looked over his wife's shoulder straight at his older brother. The brothers exchanged a long, wordless look—a silent communication that bridged four years of agonizing separation, betrayal, and bloodshed. No apologies were needed. No explanations were required. The bloodline had been tested by fire, and it had refused to break.

Declan pushed off the side of the car, offering a subtle nod. "Come inside. The morning air is too cold for reunions."

As the reunited family walked through the doors together, Declan paused on the threshold, looking back out at the vast, open ocean. The cage was gone. The silence was broken. And for the first time in four years, the king of the underworld didn't feel alone anymore.
