Chapter 23 - The Siege of Monaco

The International Sovereign Tech Summit in Monte Carlo was the grandest gathering of global power brokers in the world.
Held inside the opulent Salle des Étoiles overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the event was protected by military-grade private security. High-stakes investors, heads of state, and tech tycoons mingled under the sparkling crystal chandeliers.
At precisely 9:00 p.m., the main doors swept open.
Lena Hartwell made her entrance. She wore an exquisite midnight-black gown woven with liquid silk, adorned with a diamond necklace that caught every light in the room. Beside her walked Maya and Lily, both looking like young queens of modern industry, flanked by Lord Henry Vance.
The room fell into a reverent hush. The media cameras flashed in a blinding wave of light.
At the center VIP table sat Victor Sterling—no relation to Marcus, but the shadow chairman of the Aegis Vanguard Alliance. He was an elderly man with cold, reptile-like eyes, surrounded by heavy-set bodyguards.
As Lena approached the main stage, Victor stood up, a patronizing smile gracing his withered lips.
"Miss Hartwell," Victor’s raspy voice echoed through a lapel microphone as he addressed the gathered elite. "How poetic of you to join us. As of 6:00 p.m. today, Aegis Vanguard has acquired fifty-one percent of the floating stock of your South American operational nodes. Your empire is being dismantled piece by piece. You should have stayed in Geneva."
Mutterings of shock rippled through the audience. Reporters scrambled to go live.
Lena didn't stop walking until she stood directly across from Victor’s table. She did not look panicked; she looked like a chess master who had just lured her opponent’s king into open territory.
"You bought fifty-one percent of floating stock registered under Julian Hale’s old offshore entities, correct, Mr. Sterling?" Lena asked, her voice projecting clearly across the silent hall.
"Indeed," Victor sneered. "We hold the controlling interest in your core architecture."
"Then I suppose I should thank you," Lena said smoothly, pulling a sleek gold remote from her evening clutch. "Because three hours ago, my daughter Maya executed a complete system migration."
Maya stepped forward, tapping a sequence into her smartphone.

The massive holographic screens surrounding the Salle des Étoiles suddenly turned from corporate logos to live streams of global financial servers.
"Those nodes you bought were dummy servers," Maya announced, her voice filled with absolute confidence and authority. "We planted them four years ago specifically to trace dark-money capital from the Sovereign Vanguard. By purchasing those shares, you didn't gain control of our AI, Mr. Sterling. You just routed twenty-four billion dollars of your illegal cartel funds directly into the international asset forfeiture vault of the Interpol Cyber Crime Division."
