Before the judge could respond, Marcus stood up smoothly, buttoning his suit jacket.
"May I approach the bench as legal counsel and intervening petitioner on behalf of the minor child, Your Honor?" Marcus asked, his tone crisp and authoritative.
Judge Sterling nodded. "Proceed, Mr. Vance."
Marcus stepped forward, placing a thick folder of documents right onto the clerk's podium. "Your Honor, we object to any leniency, bail reduction, or reliance on property collateral provided by Mrs. Beatrice Vance. Furthermore, we are entering an emergency civil motion for injunction and asset freeze against both the defendant and Mrs. Beatrice Vance."
Megan snapped her head up, glaring at Marcus with pure hatred. "You have no right! This is my money, my family!"
"Quiet, Ms. Vance, or I will have you removed from the courtroom," Judge Sterling warned, before looking down at Marcus. "On what grounds, Mr. Vance?"
"On the grounds of civil conspiracy, witness tampering, and accessory after the fact," Marcus declared smoothly, his voice ringing clearly through the courtroom. "Last night, following the incident, Mrs. Beatrice Vance actively coordinated with the defendant to conceal evidence, intimidate witnesses—specifically the responding officer—and harbor a fugitive from immediate cooperative interrogation. Furthermore, financial audits of joint property holdings indicate that Megan Vance has systematically drained trust accounts intended for minor child welfare under fraudulent pretenses."
The courtroom erupted into quiet murmurs. The defense attorney looked down at Megan with sudden, profound suspicion, realizing he had been kept entirely in the dark about the financial entanglements.
