The executive suite at Vance Industries felt entirely different. The dark, intimidating mahogany furniture had been replaced with bright, modern Scandinavian oak, and the glass walls were lined with family photographs instead of financial charts.
Adrian sat at his desk, signing a stack of legal documents that finalized the permanent restructuring of the company’s governance board. Under Arthur Sterling's oversight, a dual-tier trust had been established: 50% of the voting shares were now locked in a blind trust dedicated entirely to Olivia, Leo, and Emma's future education and security.
The heavy glass door opened, and Olivia walked in, holding a portfolio of university applications. She wasn't glaring at him with teenage resentment anymore; her expression was calm, balanced, and remarkably mature.
"Columbia and NYU both accepted the early admission transfer essays," Olivia said, setting the folders on his desk.
Adrian looked up, a proud smile breaking across his face. "That's incredible, Liv. I know you wanted to stay close to home to help look after Leo and Emma, but you deserve to spread your wings."
Olivia hesitated, her fingers drumming softly against the leather portfolio. "I wanted to stay close because I didn't trust you wouldn't screw things up again, Dad." She paused, offering a faint, self-aware smile. "But... seeing how you've handled things since the trial... seeing how hard you and Clara are working on rebuilding... I think I can finally pack my bags without worrying."
