CHAPTER 3: The Camera Captured What No One Was Supposed to See

Olivia couldn't forget the heartbeat.
The senior pathologist had dismissed her concerns, insisting it was nothing more than postmortem muscle activity. He even threatened to report her for "letting fear interfere with her judgment."
But deep down...
She knew what she had heard.
That night, instead of going home after her shift, Olivia quietly returned to the examination room.
The bride still lay peacefully on the steel table, looking more like a sleeping woman than a corpse.
Her cheeks were still faintly rosy.
Her lips hadn't turned blue.
Even after hours inside the freezing morgue, her skin didn't have the waxy appearance Olivia had seen on every other body.
Something was terribly wrong.
Olivia reached into her backpack and pulled out a tiny motion-activated camera she normally used for home security.
She carefully hid it inside a ventilation grate facing the examination table.
"If I'm losing my mind," she whispered, "I'll know by morning."
She left without telling a single person.
The next morning, Olivia arrived before sunrise.
Her hands trembled as she removed the camera's memory card and hurried into the storage room.
She locked the door.
Inserted the card into her laptop.
And pressed play.
For nearly two hours...
Nothing happened.
The bride never moved.
The fluorescent lights buzzed softly.
The clock on the wall ticked endlessly.
Olivia sighed in disappointment.
Maybe the doctor had been right after all.
Then...
The timestamp reached 2:17 A.M.
Olivia froze.
Emily's right hand twitched.
Just once.
She replayed the footage.
It happened again.
Then the bride's chest slowly rose.
A tiny...
Almost invisible...
Breath.
Olivia covered her mouth.
"Oh my God..."
The bride was alive.
But before Olivia could celebrate, the video revealed something far more terrifying.
The morgue door slowly opened.
Someone quietly stepped inside.
It wasn't a security guard.
It wasn't another attendant.
It was the same senior pathologist who had declared Emily dead.
He looked around carefully before locking the door behind him.
Then he pulled a black leather case from beneath his coat.
Inside...
Were several syringes filled with a dark liquid.
Olivia felt her blood turn to ice.
The doctor wasn't there to save Emily.
He was there to make sure she never woke up.
Just before he reached the examination table...
Emily's eyelids trembled.
May you like
For the first time...
She was trying to open her eyes.
