“Too late, Agent,” I said softly, stepping back.

Across the plaza, the massive digital news screens mounted on the sides of the surrounding buildings suddenly flickered. The morning news broadcast cut out entirely.

Replaced by a stark, black-and-white military cryptographic interface.

A bold text prompt appeared on every screen simultaneously:CLASSIFIED DISCLOSURE: OPERATION KANDAR SUPPLY CHAIN & TACTICAL FRAUD.

A collective gasp rose from the hundreds of reporters gathered in the rain. Microphones instantly swung toward the giant screens as audio began to pipe through the outdoor speakers.

“This is an automated priority broadcast authorized by the Department of Defense Inspector General,” a synthesized, secure military voice echoed across the plaza. “The following records detail the unauthorized transfer of classified drone guidance systems to foreign intermediaries, coordinated by civilian contractors and overseen by federal officials...”

Agent Sterling froze, his color draining instantly. He stared up at the giant screen as the first piece of evidence flashed into view: a signed bank transfer receipt from a Cayman Islands shell company, bearing the digital signature of Senator Thomas Sterling.
