Chapter 16 - THE FINAL LINEThe silence in the conference room was absolute. Even Colonel Carney stopped pacing, watching me with an unreadable expression.

I looked down at the silver ring on my finger—the unit crest of the soldiers I had served with in Kandar, the ones who had bled and died while my mother and brother sat comfortably at home scheming to steal a dead man’s legacy.

“Family doesn't frame their own daughter as a stoler of valor, Mother,” I said, my voice steady, cold, and final. “Family doesn't lie under oath to a federal judge just to pad offshore bank accounts.”

“Avalon—please—”

“You made your choice in that courtroom,” I continued. “And I made mine on the battlefield twelve years ago. Enjoy your cell.”

I pressed the red disconnect button, silencing the phone permanently.

I tossed the device onto the table, picked up my jacket, and stood up.

“Where to next, Captain?” Colonel Carney asked, straightening his uniform jacket with a sharp, crisp motion.

“Titan Tactical,” I replied, walking toward the door. “It’s time to rebuild the company the way my father originally intended—honestly, honorably, and under the protection of people who actually know the cost of freedom.”

Marcus Vance smiled, packing his briefcase. “Lead the way, General.”
