We slammed into the armored doors of the waiting extraction van just as Dante’s car skidded to a halt beside us in the courtyard, his face pale and eyes blazing with a fury I had never seen before. He pulled me inside the vehicle as it tore away from the curb into the rainy London night.

"Are you hit?" Dante demanded, his hands gripping my shoulders as he checked me over for injuries.

"I'm fine," I said breathlessly, pulling the tablet from my coat and sliding it onto his lap. "Your father didn't just leave financial archives, Dante. He left a microfiche hidden in my mother's journal."

Dante looked down at the glowing screen, his breath catching in his throat as his eyes registered the birth certificate and the adoption decree bearing his own family crest. The silence in the back of the speeding van was absolute, heavier than any physical threat we had faced so far.

"Julian," Dante whispered, the name tearing out of him like a ghost. "They didn't kill him in Monaco. Blackwood took him."

"And whoever is running Blackwood is waiting for us at the docks," I said, leaning closer to him, my voice steady and resolute. "Let's go find your brother."
