Chapter 17 - The Winter Wedding

The wedding took place on a crisp, bright Saturday in mid-December, just a week before Christmas.
Cedar Hollow wasn't decorated like a corporate ballroom; it was draped in thousands of twinkling white fairy lights, fresh pine garlands, and winter roses. Only thirty people were invited—Eleanor, the local pediatrician, Arthur Pendelton, the ranch hands, and a handful of close friends who had stood by them through the storms.
Imani walked down the grand staircase of the house wearing a simple, elegant ivory silk dress that swept softly over the hardwood floors. In her arms, she carried a small bouquet of winter jasmine.
At the bottom of the stairs stood Elijah, wearing a tailored charcoal suit, watching her with an expression of such pure, unadulterated adoration that the entire room seemed to fade away.
Zoe, now walking steadily on her own, toddled down the aisle ahead of her mother, wearing a tiny white velvet dress and scattering dried rose petals haphazardly across the Persian rug, much to the amusement of the guests.
When Imani reached the base of the stairs, Elijah stepped forward, taking her hands in his.
“You take my breath away,” Elijah whispered softly, kissing her knuckles.

“You clean up pretty well yourself, Mr. Brooks,” she teased gently, though her eyes were shining with unshed tears.
The ceremony was short, intimate, and profoundly moving. When the local minister pronounced them husband and wife, Elijah didn't hesitate—he pulled Imani into his arms and kissed her deeply, sealing a vow forged in tragedy, tested by fire, and built on unbreakable grace.
