Chapter 20 - The Unbroken Horizon

Christmas Eve, three years later.

The Manhattan brownstone was filled with the scent of pine, cinnamon, and roasting chestnuts. A magnificent Christmas tree stood glowing in the corner, decorated with handmade ornaments, silver stars, and a single, newly engraved silver ornament bearing Leo’s name.

Clare stood by the window, watching the snow drift peacefully between the city towers. Julian walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin gently on her shoulder.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Julian whispered.

Clare smiled, placing her hands over his. "Just thinking about how different this Christmas is."

"Better?"

May you like

"Infinitely," Clare said, turning in his arms to look up into his eyes. "We didn't just survive the storm, Julian. We built something that outlasted it."

Downstairs, the front door chimed as family and friends arrived, filling the house with laughter, music, and warmth. Clare looked at the glowing tree, her wedding ring—once left behind in despair—now resting safely on her left hand, a symbol not of a trap, but of a brand new beginning.
