Chapter 13 - The Rooftop ShowdownLeo shot her a look of sharp disbelief mixed with reluctant admiration. "That was completely reckless."

"It was bait," Clara replied, her eyes narrowing as she checked the magazine of her pistol. "And he took it."

A moment later, heavy footsteps pounded up the exterior metal fire escape. A lone figure burst through the rooftop access door, panting heavily, clutching a detonator in one hand and a submachine gun in the other.

It was Vincent. His expensive suit was torn, his face smeared with soot and rain, his eyes wild with desperate fury.

"There you are," Vincent snarled, raising his weapon toward them. "You ruined everything, you little maid. You and your dead father!"

"My father exposed thieves like you," Clara stepped out from behind the stone pillar, her pistol leveled squarely at Vincent's chest. "And you're about to join them."

Vincent laughed hysterically, his finger tightening on the detonator trigger. "You think bullets matter? I wired the foundation blocks! One push of this button and—"

Before Vincent could finish his sentence, a single, deafening crack split the night air.

Vincent gasped, dropping the detonator as a clean bullet tore through his shoulder. He spun around and collapsed hard against the wet concrete parapet.

From the shadows near the elevator penthouse, a tall figure stepped forward, lowering a long-barreled sniper rifle. It wasn't Leo. It was Daniel, the elderly estate butler, casually blowing a wisp of smoke off the barrel of the rifle.

"Pardon the interruption, sir," Daniel said politely to Leo, adjusting his lapel. "But the staff dining room was getting entirely too noisy."
