Chapter 10 - The Shadow of Vale Spire

While the farmhouse on Oak Ridge buzzed with the sounds of recovery, downtown at Vale Spire, the corporate war was just beginning.

With Julian behind bars awaiting trial for extortion and corporate kidnapping, the board of directors scrambled to find a scapegoat. They scheduled an emergency shareholder meeting for a rainy Tuesday morning, hoping to strip Colton of his voting shares while he was distracted by family matters.

Maris Klein rushed into Colton’s private office just as he was buttoning his suit jacket.

“They’re mobilizing, Colton,” Maris warned, slamming a folder onto his desk. “The legacy board members—the ones your mother appointed twenty years ago—are teaming up with Vanguard Holdings' remaining stakeholders. They claim your recent focus on ‘personal restructuring’ violates fiduciary duty. They want to oust you as CEO.”

Colton didn't even blink. He poured a cup of black coffee, his expression carved from absolute ice.

“Let them try,” Colton said calmly. “They think my focus on family makes me weak. They forget that I spent the last ten years mastering every dirty trick my mother and cousin ever invented.”

“What’s your play?” Maris asked, her eyes narrowing with professional respect.

“We don't defend ourselves against the board,” Colton replied, pulling a sleek flash drive from his pocket. “We dissolve the board entirely. I’m calling in every debt, triggering every dormant partnership clause, and converting Vale Spire into a private equity trust. Effective noon today, my mother’s legacy ghosts are officially fired.”
