Chapter 18 - The Eternal Roots

With the threat of the outer dark permanently vanquished, the kingdom of Oakhaven entered an unprecedented golden age. Yet, peace under a queen tethered to the cosmos was never bound by ordinary rules of nature.
One crisp autumn morning, three months after the siege of Aethelgard, strange changes began to manifest across the palace gardens. Where normal grass and rosebushes once grew, patches of luminous, silver-veined flora began to sprout overnight, glowing softly in the twilight. The roots of these alien plants reached deep into the bedrock, drawing nourishment not just from the soil, but from the residual starlight that lingered in the atmosphere following Elina’s ascension.
Queen Elina walked through the awakening courtyard, her flowing white gown sweeping gently over the glowing grass. Beside her walked King Richard, his eyes retaining a permanent, subtle ring of golden luminescence.
"The earth itself is remembering what it was before the mountains were formed," Richard murmured, kneeling to touch a silver-leafed fern that pulsed rhythmically at his fingertips.
