Chapter 5 - The Midnight PactElina remained silent for a long moment, the tiny galaxies inside her head spinning faster, casting ethereal blue and violet light across the dungeon walls. She knew Richard was driven by ambition and desperation, but in the dark depths of her imprisonment, he was her only lifeline.

“You wish to share the burden of the sky, Richard?” her telepathic voice resonated, cold as interstellar space. “If you look into me and flinch again, your mind will shatter into a thousand pieces. There is no turning back once the veil is lifted.”
Richard swallowed hard, his throat dry as bone, but his determination—born of utter desperation—held firm. He nodded slowly. "I accept. Do it."
Elina raised her slender, pale hand and placed her fingers gently against Richard’s temples.

He saw the birth of solar systems, the spinning wheels of time, and the ancient prophecy that bound Elina’s bloodline to the defense of the mortal realm against an impending invasion from the outer dark. When he opened his eyes, they were no longer completely human; tiny golden rings flickered within his pupils, and the paralyzing fear that had gripped him earlier was completely gone, replaced by a cold, calculating power.
