Chapter 10 - The Ultimate VerdictLate that evening, I stood on the private balcony of my penthouse apartment high above downtown Dallas, holding a glass of crisp white wine. The city lights shimmered like a million brilliant diamonds against the velvet curtain of the night sky.

The wind carried the faint, distant hum of aircraft soaring overhead, their wing lights blinking rhythmically as they climbed into the dark expanse toward distant horizons.

I thought back to that night at DFW Terminal C—standing above Terminal C, looking down through the glass walkway at a man who thought he was untouchable, surrounded by a family of parasites who believed their comfort was permanent.

They had looked at my kindness, my patience, and my quiet loyalty, and mistaken it for weakness. They assumed I would stay in the shadows forever, fixing their mistakes and hiding their sins.

They couldn't have been more wrong.

Ten years of marriage had ended in a single heartbeat, but out of those shattered pieces, a much stronger, wiser, and unbreakable woman had risen from the ashes.

I took a slow sip of my wine, letting the cool liquid soothe my throat, and smiled into the night air.

Jack Walker was locked away in a concrete cell, staring at four bare walls with nothing left of the empire he had stolen. Carol and Ashley were scrambling to survive in a world where their last name no longer opened doors. And Cynthia Brooks was facing the legal consequences of her own ambition.

As for me?

I wasn't the invisible wife anymore. I was Megan Vance—architect of my own destiny, protector of my own legacy, and a woman who would never, ever let anyone take her power away again.

I raised my glass toward the starry Texas sky in a silent toast to the past that made me, and the future that belonged entirely to me.
