Chapter 5 - The Collapse of the Dynasty"You're right, Carol," I spoke into the microphone, my voice echoing smoothly across the quiet suburban street. "I was nothing without your son. But as of twenty minutes ago, your son is legally, professionally, and financially bankrupt."

The courtyard went dead silent. Even Ashley stopped her frantic pacing near the taxi, her mouth hanging open in horror.

"What... what did you say?" Jack whispered, his voice trembling as he leaned closer to the camera lens.

"The hospital board received the compliance audit, Jack," I continued, my tone conversational. "The diverted research grants, the kickbacks from pharmaceutical procurement through Ms. Brooks, and the fraudulent billing logs under your supervisor ID. They didn't just suspend you; they terminated your credentials with prejudice. The medical board has already been notified. Your license to practice medicine in the state of Texas is officially under emergency review."

Jack staggered backward, tripping over his own luggage. "No... no, that's impossible. I have tenure! I’m the head of surgical trauma!"

"You were the head of surgical trauma," I corrected. "Now you're an unemployed fraud facing federal wire fraud and embezzlement charges."

"Megan, please!" Jack’s voice broke, shifting instantly from panic to desperate pleading. He dropped to his knees on the stone porch. "We have ten years! Ten years of marriage! Don't do this to us! We can talk about this! We can fix it! I love you!"

"You love Vance Biotech's funding, Jack," I replied coldly. "You love the security blanket I provided while you played doctor and philanderer. But the game is over."

Before Jack could lunge at the door again, a new sound cut through the night air. The heavy, unmistakable rumble of two black SUVs turning onto Oakridge Drive.

They didn't slow down. They pulled straight into our driveway, flanking the battered taxi with military precision. The doors opened simultaneously, and four men in sharp charcoal suits stepped out into the floodlights. Federal marshals and corporate compliance officers, led by Gerald himself.

Jack scrambled to his feet, turning around in sheer panic as Gerald walked up the steps, holding a thick leather briefcase.

"Dr. Jack Walker?" Gerald asked politely, his voice carrying clearly through the intercom.

"Who the hell are you?! Get off my property!" Jack yelled, lunging toward Gerald.

Gerald didn't even flinch. He simply flashed a federal badge and a court-ordered seizure warrant. "I’m representing the federal prosecutor’s office and the Vance Estate. You are being served with a civil forfeiture notice and an immediate restraining order preventing you from accessing any properties, accounts, or assets belonging to Mrs. Megan Walker."

Gerald looked straight up at the security camera, offering a brief, respectful nod toward the lens where I was watching.

"The house is officially repossessed, Dr. Walker," Gerald said loudly. "Pack your bags. Your vacation is officially over."
