Sophia didn't blink. She looked past Julian’s gun barrel, staring directly into the infrared security lenses mounted discreetly along the tunnel's structural beams—lenses she had quietly activated the moment the train's emergency brakes engaged.

"You think you're the master strategist here, Julian?" Sophia asked, her voice dangerously calm. "Check your encrypted comms link."

Julian frowned, his hand hesitating for a fraction of a second. He tapped his earpiece.

From the comms channel, instead of his mercenary captain's voice, Rocco Moretti’s deep, terrifying baritone resonated through the tunnel: "Drop your weapon, boy. Your entire mercenary cell has been surrounded by my personal guard units for the past three minutes."

Simultaneously, red laser dots pierced the darkness of the tunnel from every overhead angle, locking directly onto Julian and his operatives. The tables had turned in the span of a single heartbeat.
