Chapter 20 - A New Horizon

The evening shadows lengthened across the estate, painting the new brickwork in warm shades of amber and gold. Marcus stood near the front gates, watching a delivery truck pull away carrying the last remnants of the old security equipment. The heavy iron gates remained wide open—not locked, not guarded by armed men, but simply welcoming the world in.

Inside the study, the mahogany desk was clear of ledgers, weapons, and hidden threats. Only a single photograph rested in a simple wooden frame: Lily smiling in the garden, holding a yellow crayon like a magic wand.

Damian stood by the arched window, looking out over the two quiet hectares of land. The ghosts of his father, the betrayal of his brother, and the shadows of Victor Thorne were all buried deep in the past where they belonged. For the first time in ten years, the master of the Vane estate didn't check his watch.
