Chapter 15 - The Final EchoAlexander froze when he saw me, his eyes widening with a mixture of desperate hope and profound humiliation. He took a hesitant step forward, raising a hand as if to stop me.

“Erin...” he choked out, his voice trembling slightly in the cool spring air. “Please... just a minute of your time. I... I didn't know. I never truly saw you. I was blind, I was arrogant, but... we had history. Can we talk? Just as two people who used to care for each other?”
I stopped walking, turning to face him fully. The sunlight caught the sapphire ring on my right hand—the one I had bought during charge eleven, when I realized I was finally choosing myself.
I looked at him not with anger, resentment, or bitterness, but with absolute, profound indifference. The man standing before me no longer held any power to hurt, diminish, or haunt me. He was simply a stranger from a chapter I had already finished reading.
“You’re right, Alexander,” I said, my voice calm, clear, and steady, carrying easily across the path. “We did have history. And you spent every single day of it teaching me how much I deserved better.”
