Chapter 4 - The Sound of Glass BreakingThe line went dead silent. For a terrifying moment, I could hear Alexander breathing heavily on the other end, his brain desperately trying to compute the math of a betrayal he never saw coming.

“What are you talking about?” he hissed, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper, likely trying to step away from Sophia’s table. “Where are you? What is this nonsense about real estate? Come home right now and fix this before I—"
“Before you what?” I interrupted, my tone cutting through his threats like a scalpel. “Before you lock my credit cards? Before you leave me sitting alone with cold potatoes again? You made a terrible mistake tonight, Alexander. You handed me an unlimited weapon and told me not to interrupt your date. So I didn't. I used it to dismantle your empire piece by piece.”
“You’re bluffing,” he snapped, though I could hear the frantic panic trembling underneath his words. “You’re a quiet, obedient nobody who wouldn't even look me in the eye when I raised my voice. You don't have the spine to do any of this!”
“You spent two years studying how convenient I was, Alexander, and zero time studying who I actually am,” I replied softly. “Do you remember the missing corporate deeds from your grandfather’s estate that saved Grant Enterprises from bankruptcy last year? The ones your uncles swore vanished into thin air?”
A sharp intake of breath echoed through the phone.
“You...” Alexander choked out. “You found them.”

“I didn't just find them,” I said, smiling at my reflection in the polished glass of the Fifth Avenue salon. “I legally registered them under a secondary holding company—a company that currently holds the debt on your primary residential estate, your personal investment portfolio, and the very building where you’re currently trying to play house with Sophia.”
Before he could scream another word, I hung up the phone, powered it completely off, and dropped it into a heavy crystal wastebasket.
