Chapter 5 - The Morning AfterThe sun rose over Manhattan on a cold, grey February morning, but inside my new penthouse suite overlooking the Hudson River, the air felt electric. I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped in my new red cashmere coat, watching the morning commuters scurry through the sleet below.

At exactly 8:00 AM, the heavy oak double doors of my foyer buzzed.
I opened them to find Alexander standing there, looking like a ghost. His black cashmere coat was rumpled, his hair unstyled, and the arrogant, untouchable glow of Grant Enterprises' golden boy had been completely wiped from his face. Behind him stood two corporate lawyers and a visibly shaken Sophia Reed, who looked as though she had been crying for hours.
“Erin,” Alexander breathed, taking a desperate step forward. His eyes darted around the sprawling, multi-million-dollar penthouse, taking in the packing boxes, the designer shopping bags, and the legal documents resting neatly on the marble kitchen island. “We need to talk. This... this is insane. You can’t just seize corporate assets because you were having a domestic tantrum.”
“It’s not a tantrum, Alexander,” I said, stepping aside to let them in, my posture completely upright, fearless, and unyielding. “It’s an eviction.”
Sophia stepped into the foyer, her face twisted in utter disbelief. “Erin, please, you’re ruining his life over a misunderstanding! Alex didn't mean to—"

“Shut up, Sophia,” I said casually, my gaze locking onto hers with such absolute frost that she physically stepped backward. “You spent years hiding in photographs and phone screens, waiting for a chance to reclaim a man who never belonged to you in the first place. Take him. He’s completely yours now. Especially since he’s officially broke.”
Alexander staggered forward, staring at the formal legal notice resting on the counter. “What... what do you mean, broke?”
