Chapter 45 - The Anniversary Celebration

Spring returned to the capital, bringing with it the twelfth anniversary of the day we walked out of that terrible Easter dinner into the rain.

To mark the occasion, the foundation hosted an open-air festival across the entire estate. Thousands of local families, artists, students, and community workers gathered on the expansive green lawns.

Sofia, now a young woman standing tall and confident, took the microphone on the central stage to address the crowd.

“Twelve years ago, this house was a fortress built on exclusion and fear,” Sofia’s clear, resonant voice echoed across the gardens. “Today, it is a home built on openness, art, and the belief that every child deserves a seat at the table.”

From the front row, Andrés and I watched her, tears of profound pride prickling at the corners of our eyes.
