Chapter 13 - Whispers in the NurseryThe heavy oak doors of the nursery remain locked to the outside world, but inside, the atmosphere is one of profound healing. Theo sits on the plush rug, carefully rolling the wooden toy train across a track built by his older brother.

Felix watches him with a gentle expression, a far cry from the aggressive, manipulated child he was weeks ago. Regular sessions with specialized child psychologists and Elena’s unwavering patience have stripped away the poisonous conditioning planted by his mother.

“Can we paint the engine blue today, Theo?” Felix asks softly, pointing to a set of non-toxic water-based paints Elena left on the low table.

Theo’s face lights up with an enthusiastic grin. “Yeah! Blue like Daddy’s car!”

Elena stands by the window, watching the two boys interact with a quiet sense of triumph. The door opens silently, and Luciano enters, loosening his tie. He stops behind Elena, watching his sons laugh together.

“They’re going to be okay,” Elena murmurs, resting a hand gently on Luciano’s arm.

“Because of you,” Luciano replies, looking down at her with genuine warmth in his eyes. “You protected them when everyone else was trying to tear this house apart. I don’t know where we’d be without you, Elena.”

Elena blushes slightly, looking back toward the boys. “You protect the empire, Luciano. I protect the heart.”
