Chapter 9 - The Siege of the Estate

The heavy iron gates of the Venturi estate explode inward in a deafening roar of fire and shrapnel. Sirens wail through the snowy night air as red emergency lights strobe against the stone facade of the mansion.

Inside the panic room on the lower level, Elena holds Theo tightly against her chest, while Felix cowers in the corner, shaking uncontrollably. Luciano stands at the central monitoring station, a tactical submachine gun slung across his chest, his face carved from granite.

“They’ve breached the outer perimeter!” Marco reports over the comms channel, gunshots echoing heavily in the background. “They’re using military-grade thermal breaching charges! We’re outnumbered three to one!”

“Hold the second-floor stairwell,” Luciano orders, his voice steady as iron. “Do not let them near the nursery. If anyone gets past you, they answer to me.”

Heavy boots thunder up the grand marble staircase upstairs. The reinforced oak doors of the master suite splinter under heavy assault. Through the security cameras, Luciano watches as a squad of heavily armed mercenaries, wearing unmarked black tactical gear, flood into the hallways.

At the head of the squad is a tall, scarred man wearing a silver wolf pendant—Viktor Vance himself.

“Luciano! Come out, you arrogant bastard!” Viktor’s voice booms through the mansion's intercom system. “You took my niece's empire! Now I’m taking your bloodline!”

Luciano steps out of the panic room into the dimly lit corridor of the ground floor. He pulls back the charging handle of his weapon with a sharp, metallic clack. He is alone, but he is standing on his own ground, surrounded by the legacy of everything his family built.

“I’m right here, Viktor,” Luciano whispers into his lapel mic. “And you’re standing in your own grave.”
