Chapter 17 - The Last Messenger“I wouldn't move if I were you, Luciano,” a smooth, feminine voice cuts through the quiet rustle of the wind in the garden.

Luciano stops five paces away from the hooded figure, his pistol raised and locked squarely on her chest. “Show your face. You’ve crossed three rings of perimeter security to stand in my garden. That’s either incredible bravery or a death wish.”
The figure slowly lowers her hood, revealing striking silver hair and piercing green eyes that look hauntingly familiar. It is Serena Vance, Viktor’s estranged younger sister who vanished into European diplomatic exile twenty years ago.
“Neither, Luciano,” Serena says calmly, keeping her hands visible by her sides. “I didn't come to kill you. I came to warn you.”
“Warn me about what? Your brother is dead. Your family’s empire is liquidated,” Luciano replies, his finger resting lightly on the trigger.”

“You think Viktor and Dante were the top of the food chain?” Serena lets out a bitter, humorless laugh. “They were foot soldiers in a much larger global syndicate that spans across Zurich, Geneva, and the Vatican bank. You dismantled their American branch, Luciano, but the European council has already voted to sanction your total elimination.”
Luciano’s expression hardens, though his pulse remains ice-cold. “Let them come. I built this house on blood, and I’ll protect it the same way.”
