Chapter 20 - The Forever Horizon

Outside on the sunlit lawn, the music swelled—a soft, acoustic melody drifting across the green grass.

Miles, Grace, and Sophie came running down the stone pathway toward the carriage house, their capes billowing behind them like little wings. Miles held a small wooden box containing their wedding bands, walking with that same stubborn, determined chin that belonged unmistakably to a Cross.

"Mommy! Daddy! The cake is ready and the dog is happy!" Miles shouted, skidding to a halt at the doorway.

Nathaniel looked down at his children, then up at the woman who was his entire world, feeling an overwhelming surge of peace and completion.

"Come on, Mrs. Cross," Nathaniel smiled, offering her his hand. "Let's go meet our future."

Elena took his hand, her fingers intertwining with his securely, and together they stepped out into the brilliant afternoon sunlight, walking toward a horizon that belonged entirely to them.
