Chapter 10 - The New Dynasty

Six months later, the front page of Forbes Magazine featured a sprawling portrait that sent shockwaves through the financial world.
I sat in the center of a sunlit, modern boardroom, flanked by three smiling, healthy, sharp-eyed boys in custom tailored suits. The headline above our picture read: THE NEW QUEEN OF CHICAGO: HOW MAYA MONTGOMERY BUILT AN EMPIRE AND TOOK THE THRONE.
The article detailed the meteoric rise of Apex-Montgomery Global, now one of the top ten most influential conglomerates in the United States. It spoke of brilliant acquisitions, visionary leadership, and a corporate culture rooted in resilience rather than birthright.
Back in my penthouse overlooking the sparkling Chicago skyline, I closed the magazine and set it gently on the coffee table.
The sunset washed over the room in warm, golden light. From the hallway, I could hear the loud, joyful crashes of a massive pillow fortress being built, accompanied by passionate arguments over toy dinosaurs.
Liam, Noah, and Caleb came running into the living room, piling onto the sofa beside me, laughing and out of breath.
I wrapped my arms around all three of them, pulling them close, breathing in the scent of shampoo and childhood energy.
