Chapter 10 - The Unseen Ledger

The morning sun washed over the grand conservatory of the Anderson estate, catching the dust motes dancing in the air above the rows of antique ferns.
Jack sat across from Maris Klein at a heavy walnut desk, the newly discovered co-trusteeship document resting squarely between them like an unexploded shell. The morning light struck the faded ink of his grandfather’s signature, illuminating a truth that had been locked away for over two decades.
“A co-trusteeship,” Maris murmured, leaning closer to inspect the legal seal. “This changes the entire corporate structure. It means Betty doesn’t just own a stake in the estate—she holds absolute veto power over every primary asset managed by the foundation, past and present.”
Jack nodded slowly, staring out the window toward the front lawn where Amy and Lisa were laughing while chasing a butterfly.
“Arthur Pendelton and his associates spent twenty years acting like they owned the keys to the kingdom,” Jack said, his voice cold and steady. “They thought cutting off the lower branches would kill the tree. They didn't realize the roots went all the way down to the kitchen floor.”

“The federal prosecutors are ready to move on the second phase of the asset seizure,” Maris added, tapping her tablet. “Once we file this deed with the state registry, every offshore account Arthur touched will be frozen under the original family trust guidelines.”
“Do it,” Jack instructed, standing up. “And make sure the public records are transparent. Let Seattle see exactly who built this empire, and who tried to burn it down.”
