Chapter 6 - The Trap is Sprung

Arthur’s smug smile vanished instantly. The color drained from his face as the lead federal agent stepped forward, flashing a gold badge.
“Arthur Pendelton,” the agent announced loudly, his voice echoing off the library walls. “You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, embezzlement of regional health grants, and corporate extortion.”
“This... this is an outrage!” Arthur stammered, pointing a shaking finger at Jack. “He fabricated these documents! He’s using his power to silence the board!”
“I didn't fabricate anything, Arthur,” Jack said, walking slowly around his desk until he stood face-to-face with the trembling executive. “You and Victor Vance spent the last five years siphoning fifty million dollars from the Anderson Foundation’s public health fund into offshore accounts registered under shell companies. You thought my mother’s death meant nobody was watching the ledger anymore.”
Jack pulled a single flash drive from his pocket and dropped it onto Arthur’s chest.
“My private forensic audit team finished downloading your digital footprint at 3:00 a.m. Every transfer, every encrypted email, every forged signature—it’s all there. You didn't just steal from the foundation, Arthur. You stole from the very people Betty spent her life trying to help.”
Arthur looked at the flash drive, then at the federal agents who were already stepping forward with handcuffs in their hands. The grand architect of corporate betrayal realized he had walked straight into a cage of his own making.

As the guards pinned Arthur’s arms behind his back and clicked the steel cuffs into place, Jack leaned down and whispered in his ear:
“Never mistake a good man’s compassion for weakness.”
