Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Betrayal (Twist Ending)Eleanor smiled, taking a slow sip of her red wine. "Excellent work. Ensure the remaining balance is cleared before midnight."

She hung up the phone and turned aroundāonly to find Claire standing in the doorway of the study.
Claire was holding a small leather-bound journal. Her mother's diary.
"You knew, didn't you?" Claire asked, her voice eerily calm.
Eleanor didn't panic. She simply put down her wine glass. "Knew what, little sister?"
"You knew Father was alive six months ago," Claire said, stepping into the room and tossing the diary onto the desk. "You were the one who helped him fake his death in the first place. You set up his offshore accounts."
Eleanorās smile widened slightly. "You always were smarter than Ethan gave you credit for."
"Father didn't poison me, did he?" Claire's voice cracked with a mixture of rage and heartbreaking realization. "Martha didn't do it for Father. She did it for you. You paid her brother's debts!"
Eleanor took a step toward Claire, her eyes cold and calculating.
"Father was sloppy, Claire. He spent forty years building an empire only to gamble it away on bad investments. He was going to lose everythingāincluding our trust funds. So I offered him a deal: I help him fake his death to escape his cartel debts, and in return, he gives me full control of the Blackwood offshore accounts."
"And me?" Claire gasped, tears falling down her cheeks. "Why try to kill me?!"
"I NEVER tried to kill you!" Eleanor snapped, her voice suddenly fierce. "I poisoned you with just enough paralytic to make you dizzy on that balcony! I needed a dramatic, public attempt on your life so the police would investigate Father and Ethan! I needed Father sent to prison forever so he couldn't reclaim the money, and I needed Ethan discredited so you would divorce him and leave the estate entirely in MY hands!"
"You orchestrated everything..." Claire whispered in horror. "The fall, the balcony, the police, the trial... it was all a show for the press and the court!"
"And it worked," Eleanor smirked, reaching out to pat Claireās cheek gently. "Father is in prison for life. Ethan is broke and broken. And you and I are now the sole owners of $50 million. I saved you from a bankrupt life with a useless husband, Claire. You should be thanking me."
Claire stared at her sister in absolute shock. "You're a monster..."
"I'm a survivor," Eleanor corrected coldly. "Now, pack your bags, sister. We have a flight to Zurich at midnight."
Claire slowly backed out of the room, turning and running down the grand hallway of the estate.
Eleanor watched her leave, taking another peaceful sip of her wine. She picked up her leather handbag, adjusted her coat, and walked down the grand marble staircase one last time.
She stepped out onto the driveway where her black sports car was idling in the crisp night air. She threw her luggage into the trunk, climbed into the driver's seat, and turned the key.
The engine roared to life.
Eleanor pulled out her phone, dialing the Swiss bank confirmation code to transfer the final $25 million into her personal account.
Suddenly, her phone screen glitched. Red bold text flashed across the screen:
[TRANSACTION DENIED: ACCOUNT FROZEN BY CO-TRUSTEE]
Eleanorās heart stopped. "What?!"
Her phone chimed with a incoming text message. It was from Claire.
Attached was an audio file recorded just two minutes ago in the studyāa crystal-clear recording of Eleanor confessing to faking her father's death, poisoning Claire, framing Ethan, and stealing the money.
Below the audio file was a single text message from Claire:
"You forgot one detail, Eleanor. When Ethan caught me at the balcony that night, he slipped mother's old digital voice recorder into my coat pocket. I've been recording everything since day one. Detective Vance is waiting for you at the airport gate. Happy landings, sister."
Before Eleanor could put the car in reverse, blue and red strobe lights exploded across the dark driveway. Four police cruisers blocked the iron gates of Blackwood Manor, their sirens blaring into the night.

Eleanor sat frozen in the driver's seat, her hands trembling against the steering wheel as Detective Vance stepped up to her window, pulling out his handcuffs.
