Chapter 9 - The Prison Cell GambitThe iron doors of the County Detention Center slammed shut with a heavy, metallic clang. Eleanor Blackwood sat on the edge of the narrow cot, her immaculate silk blouse wrinkled, her polished silver heels covered in cell dust.

Across the bulletproof glass, Detective Vance picked up the orange receiver.

"You've got five minutes, Eleanor," Vance said, his voice flat. "Your audio confession is being reviewed by the Grand Jury right now. The wire fraud, the attempted poisoning, framing your father—you’re looking at twenty-five years without parole."

Eleanor didn't look defeated. She slowly lifted her receiver, a thin, chilling smile gracing her lips.

"Detective... do you really think I’m stupid enough to talk about a $50 million embezzlement scheme in an unencrypted room without knowing I was being recorded?"

Vance’s eyes narrowed. "Don't play games. We have your voice on Claire's recorder."

"You have a voice clone," Eleanor whispered softly, her gray eyes gleaming. "Do you know what AI audio synthesis can do these days, Vance? A simple voice model trained on my public court statements. Claire bought it online two weeks ago."

Vance froze. "What are you talking about?"

"Check the metadata on that audio file, Detective," Eleanor chuckled, leaning closer to the glass. "Claire didn't record me. She fabricated the recording to frame me because I found out her dirty little secret."

CHAPTER 9 HOOK: Detective Vance’s phone buzzed violently on the desk. He answered it, listening for three seconds before his face drained of color. He looked back at Eleanor. "Detective," his officer panicked over the line, "Claire and Ethan Blackwood just raided the estate's private vault and cleared out all physical bearer bonds—they're fleeing the country right now!"
