Chapter 11 - The Inheritance of Crows

The morning sun over the Sterling estate brought no warmth to the cold stone corridors of the west wing, where Arthur sat reviewing a thick dossier stamped with federal seals. While Elena had vanished into the obscurity of rural exile, the tentacles of her secret life were far deeper than a single offshore account.
His private investigator, a relentless ex-MI6 operative named Vance, slid a photograph across the mahogany desk. It showed a sharp-featured man with slicked-back blonde hair stepping out of a private jet in Zurich.
"Meet Julian Vance—no relation," the investigator said flatly, tapping the photo. "He’s Elena’s primary co-conspirator and the actual architect of the shell companies. When we seized her accounts, we accidentally triggered a dead-man’s switch linked to Julian’s syndicate in Europe."
Arthur’s eyes narrowed, scanning the financial trails. "A syndicate? I thought she was just a lone-wolf socialite playing high-society embezzlement."

"She was small fry, Mr. Sterling. Julian’s crew uses high-end corporate facades to launder cartel money through tech startups—including a silent equity stake in one of your own subsidiary firms," Vance warned, leaning forward. "And they know you have the drive containing the master records. They aren't looking for a divorce settlement, Arthur. They’re looking for blood."
Arthur slowly closed the dossier. Instead of fear, a dark, lethal adrenaline surged through his veins. They wanted a war on his turf? He would give them a slaughterhouse.
