Chapter 8 - The Confession Room

The heavy oak doors of the study swung open. Elena walked in, but the polished, immaculate socialite was completely gone. Her hair was disheveled, her designer dress wrinkled, her eyes red-rimmed from frantic, furious crying.

She slammed her palms onto the edge of Arthur’s desk, leaning over it, her chest heaving.

"You’re a monster!" she shrieked, the veneer of civilization completely shattered. "You planned this! You baited me into losing my temper with those brats just so you could strip me of everything!"

Arthur didn't flinch. He didn't even look up from his monitor. He simply slid a single piece of paper across the polished mahogany surface, accompanied by a heavy gold fountain pen.

"Sign the papers, Elena," Arthur said quietly. "It’s your only remaining option."

Elena glanced down at the document, her eyes scanning the brutal terms. Forfeiture of all marital assets. Renunciation of custody rights. Immediate relocation to a designated residence in rural Montana.

"I won't sign this!" she screamed, snatching the papers and ripping them furiously into jagged shreds, scattering the pieces across the desk like confetti. "I’ll expose you! I’ll tell the world about your secret offshore projects, your dirty tech contracts, everything!"

Arthur finally looked up. His gaze was so cold, so profoundly empty, that Elena instinctively stepped back, her breath catching in her throat.

"Expose me with what evidence?" Arthur asked softly. "Your phone has been wiped. Your tablet is in a secure shredder in the basement. The offshore accounts you think you own were registered under dummy corporations where my signature is the ultimate authority. You never owned a single cent, Elena. You were an employee of this household, and you just got fired for gross misconduct."

Elena’s knees buckled. She caught herself on the edge of the desk, staring at her husband as if she were looking at a ghost.

"Why?" she whispered, tears finally breaking over her lashes. "Why marry me if you trusted me so little?"

"Because," Arthur said, standing up slowly and buttoning his suit jacket, "even a billionaire needs to know what kind of monsters are hiding in his own house. Now, pack your bags. A car is waiting at the front gates."
