Chapter 3 - The Golden Cage CracksBy 9:00 AM, the crisis had escalated from a domestic catastrophe to a corporate nuclear winter.

Dominic stood in his private study, fully dressed in a tailored charcoal suit that suddenly felt like a straitjacket. He had tried calling Claire’s cell phone half a dozen times. Each call went straight to voicemail. He had called Daniel Mercer, only to be met with a cold, formal legal dismissal: “The Board of Trustees is currently reviewing all executive expenditures, Mr. Marlowe. Please direct all inquiries through legal counsel.”
The door to the study opened slowly.
Sienna stood there, wrapped in one of Dominic’s oversized white silk bathrobes. Her blonde hair was messy, her makeup smudged from the night before, and an expression of utter bewilderment plastered across her delicate features.
"Dominic?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. "What’s going on? I tried to log into the payroll portal to check my bonus distribution, and my security badge was deactivated at the front desk. Security told me I’m barred from the building."
Dominic turned to look at her, really look at her, for the first time since the night began.
In the heat of the past six months, Sienna had felt like a breath of fresh air—an escape from the crushing weight of running an empire, a woman who laughed at his jokes and worshipped his power without demanding accountability. But standing here in the wreckage of his marriage, she suddenly looked small, fragile, and utterly expendable.
"Get dressed, Sienna," Dominic said, his voice flat and terrifyingly cold.
"What? Why? Where are we going?"
"We aren't going anywhere," Dominic snapped, slamming his fist down on the mahogany desk. "You are leaving. Right now. Pack your things and get out of my penthouse."
Sienna’s eyes widened in shock and panic. "Dominic, you can't be serious! After everything we—"
"I said, get out!" he roared, stepping toward her with the terrifying, predatory aura that had kept New York’s underworld under his thumb for a decade. "My wife just locked me out of my own company, froze my personal assets, and launched a forensic audit that is going to tear my entire life apart. If you don't walk out that front door in the next five minutes, I won't just fire you—I'll make sure you never work another corporate job in this hemisphere!"

Sienna burst into tears, her illusions of grandeur shattering instantly. She turned and fled back toward the bedroom, desperate to salvage whatever dignity she had left.
Dominic grabbed his car keys, his mind racing. There was only one person who could fix this. He had to find Claire.
