Chapter 8 - The Queen’s Counter-AttackClaire looked at the man standing before her—the man who had broken her heart, shattered their eleven-year marriage, and brought a federal storm crashing down upon their doorstep.

For ten long seconds, the room was dead silent.
Then, Claire walked over to the desk, picked up her leather briefcase, and snapped it open. She pulled out a pristine, unblemished leather-bound folder labeled Master Compliance & Contingency Protocols.
"You were a fool, Dominic," Claire said, her voice dropping into a tone of absolute, chilling authority that commanded the entire room. "You let your arrogance blind you to the simplest rule of power: never trust someone who flatters your ego more than they challenge your judgment."
She tossed the folder onto the glass table right in front of him.
"What is this?" Dominic asked, staring down at the papers.
"Insurance," Claire replied coldly. "Six months ago, when you started bypassing procurement reviews to buy those hotels, I had a bad feeling. I quietly instituted a shadow compliance protocol across every subsidiary. Every digital signature, every executive override, and every secondary login executed by Sienna Brooks was automatically mirrored and rerouted through an independent, encrypted server controlled exclusively by me."
Dominic’s eyes widened as he flipped through the pages.
Every single fraudulent document Sienna had filed, every illegal shipping manifest she had forged under his name, and every communication she had exchanged with the Moretti syndicate was meticulously documented, time-stamped, and legally certified.
"She didn't frame you, Dominic," Claire continued, her eyes locking onto his with razor-sharp precision. "She thought she framed you. But because of my shadow protocol, the digital audit trail proves conclusively that her access was unauthorized, her credentials were spoofed, and you were the victim of an corporate espionage plot engineered by our rivals."
Daniel let out a long, slow breath, a faint smile touching the corners of his mouth. "My god, Claire. You anticipated a hostile takeover months before it even happened."
"I anticipated my husband losing his mind," Claire corrected flatly. "It's the same thing."

She picked up her phone, unlocked the encrypted messaging app, and dialed a number.
"Director Vance," Claire said into the phone the moment the line connected, her voice completely steady. "This is Claire Marlowe. I believe your agents are currently executing a search warrant at our Brooklyn shipping hub based on fraudulent manifests provided by a rogue employee. I am transmitting the unredacted digital audit trail proving corporate espionage right now. If you want the real conspirators behind the Moretti syndicate, I suggest you pull your agents back and meet my legal team in thirty minutes."
