Chapter 16 - The Storm ClearsI looked down at the ring, then up into the dark, unwavering eyes of the man who had terrified a city and yet held me as if I were the most precious thing on earth.

“You know,” I smiled faintly, raising an eyebrow, “for a billionaire shipping tycoon, your proposal strategy is remarkably aggressive.”

Dominic grinned, a wicked, charming flash of teeth that softened the harsh lines of his face.

“I’m a strategist, Clara,” he teased softly. “I don't leave room for rejection.”

“Yes,” I whispered.

The word had barely left my lips before Dominic pulled me against him, his lips crashing down onto mine in a fierce, passionate kiss that wiped away every memory of the sterile hospital room, the rainy nights, and the ghosts of the past.

For the first time in eighty-nine days, there were no monitors beeping. There were no armed guards at the door. There was only the sound of the ocean waves crashing against the shore below, and a future waiting to be written.
