Chapter 16 - The Secret Bunker

"Put the pen down, Damian," Michael’s voice cut through the quiet room like a razor.

Damian didn't even flinch. He slowly wiped his ink-stained fingers with a linen napkin and turned around. Behind him, two heavy-set bodyguards emerged from the shadows, their guns drawn.

"You're persistent, nephew," Damian sighed. "I gave you enough aconite to fell an elephant."

"Daddy!" Emma cried out, her eyes shining with tears as she tried to pull against the silk binding.

"Miller, now!" Michael yelled.

Detective Miller kicked open the study door, firing three quick non-lethal rounds that dropped both bodyguards to the floor.

Damian immediately grabbed Emma, pulling a small chrome revolver from his jacket and pressing the barrel against her temple. "One step closer, Michael, and I splatter her brains across this Persian rug!"

Michael froze, his gun lowered. "This was never about Arthur's money, was it, Damian? You don't care about the $50 million."

Damian let out a wild, unhinged laugh. "Fifty million? You fool! Arthur didn't just leave a trust fund. He left the blueprints to the Defense Department's AI surveillance network buried right under this floor!"

Damian kicked the rug aside, revealing a heavy iron hatch embedded in the floorboards—the entrance to Arthur’s forgotten cold-war bunker.

"Arthur built his fortune selling secrets to the highest bidder," Damian sneered. "And under this floor is the master server containing every political bribe in North America. That server is worth five billion dollars!"
