Chapter 20 - The Vow in the Rain Headline: "He Picked Her Up from the Curb in a Storm—Now He Gave Her an Empire and His Heart Forever!"

The rain was falling softly over Puget Sound, painting the glass walls of the Whitaker Estate with delicate water droplets.
The sun was setting behind the Olympic Mountains, casting pink and purple hues across the dark ocean waters. Down in the nursery, Maya was fast asleep, her tiny hand gripping a wooden toy sailboat Noah had carved for her.
I stood on the glass balcony overlooking the cliffside, wearing a simple white silk dress, letting the cool evening sea breeze sweep through my hair.
Behind me, soft footsteps echoed across the hardwood floor. Noah walked out onto the terrace, carrying two crystal glasses of vintage red wine. He handed one to me, stepping up beside me, his tall frame wrapping me in a familiar, intoxicating warmth.
"Thinking about the past?" Noah asked softly, his grey eyes watching the rain trickling down the glass ceiling above us.
"No," I smiled, turning to face him, leaning my head against his broad chest. "I was thinking about how beautiful the rain sounds when you're finally safe."
Noah set his glass down on the stone ledge. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.
My breath caught in my throat.
Noah dropped down to one knee right there on the wet marble terrace, the rain glowing under the terrace lights like scattered diamonds around us. He opened the box, revealing a breathtaking, flawless ten-carat sapphire diamond ring, shimmering like the deep blue waters of Puget Sound.
"Emma Sterling," Noah said, his low voice thick with pure, unyielding devotion. "Two years ago, I picked you up out of the cold rain because I couldn't let the world break the most extraordinary woman I had ever seen. Every day since then, you have built an empire, healed your heart, and given my life a purpose I never knew existed."
Noah looked up into my eyes, his face etched with a love so deep it took my breath away. "I don't want to just protect your legacy, Emma. I want to build a life with you. Will you marry me?"
Tears of pure, unbounded happiness streamed down my cheeks.
"Yes!" I whispered, my voice breaking with joy. "Yes, Noah! A thousand times yes!"

Noah slid the ring onto my finger, stood up, and pulled me into his arms, lifting me off my feet just as he had done on that fateful night outside my apartment. But this time, there were no tears of pain, no betrayal, and no fear.
He pulled me close and kissed me deeply under the falling rain, while the lights of Seattle sparkled across the bay—a city that once belonged to those who tried to break us, but now belonged to the Queen and the Man who saved her.
