Chapter 16 - THE WALL STREET SLAUGHTER “The Wall Street vultures tried to bankrupt her... She bought their entire firm for $1!”

At 10:00 PM, the Ouroboros Group executed their final attack, shorting 20 million shares of the Grand Halcyon’s parent company, expecting the honeypot data to trigger an automatic margin call on Claire’s trust.
In a glass tower on Wall Street, the syndicate managers opened champagne, watching the ticker drop toward zero.
"She’s finished," the lead hedge fund manager laughed. "The Bennett trust will be completely wiped out in ten minutes!"
Suddenly, the ticker stopped.
A massive, multi-billion-dollar buy order flashed across the trading floor screen.
10 million shares bought. 20 million shares bought. 50 million shares bought.
The price of the Grand Halcyon didn't crash—it skyrocketed by 400% in eight seconds.
"What is happening?!" the manager screamed, grabbing his monitor. "Where is that capital coming from?!"
In her office, Eleanor pressed a final key on her terminal.
Using the encrypted master server from the riverbed vault—which held the original, forgotten land titles to three major commercial ports in Hamburg and London owned by Eleanor's family line—Claire had leveraged an international line of credit worth $1.2 billion.
The short squeeze was brutal. Ouroboros Group was forced to buy back millions of shares at astronomical prices to cover their margin positions.
By 11:30 PM, the Ouroboros Group was completely insolvent. Their assets were seized by the clearing bank, and their remaining debt portfolios were put up for emergency liquidation.
Claire picked up her phone and dialed the receiver of the liquidation auction.

"I offer one dollar for the entire distressed portfolio of Ouroboros Group," Claire said calmly.
"Accepted," the auctioneer replied. "Congratulations, Ms. Bennett. You now own the hedge fund that tried to destroy you."
