Chapter 4 - THE BOARDROOM EXECUTION “Vanessa smiled as she presented her hostile takeover... until the Sheriff entered with handcuffs!”

At 2:00 p.m., the emergency investor meeting convened in the Grand Ballroom. Fifty of the city's highest-stakes venture capitalists, hotel partners, and shareholders sat around the massive horseshoe table.

Dad sat at the head, looking haggard, while Vanessa paced behind him like a panther, whispering instructions into his ear.

"This meeting is officially in session," Dad announced, clearing his throat and trying to maintain an air of authority. "We are here to discuss a temporary legal anomaly regarding the property titles. My daughter, Claire, has acted impulsively due to personal grievances—"

The heavy double doors of the ballroom swung open.

I walked in, flanked by Miriam Cole and three senior forensic accountants from Deloitte.

"The only anomaly in this room, Arthur," I declared, my voice carrying cleanly across the silent hall, "is the fact that you allowed an unvetted fraudster to sign away thirty million dollars of hotel equity to an offshore shell firm."

Vanessa slammed her hands on the table. "Security! Remove this crazy woman immediately! She is interrupting a official board vote!"

"Security works for me now, Vanessa," I said coolly. I signaled to my team, who instantly distributed thick, blue-bound dossiers to every board member at the table.

"What is this?" one of the lead investors, Mr. Vance, asked, opening his file.

"That," I explained, "is the audit trail of Vanguard Holdings. Over the past forty-eight months, Mrs. Vanessa Bennett has redirected 14% of gross room revenues into accounts owned by her brother in Panama. She was engineering a forced insolvency of the Grand Halcyon so Vanguard could buy it at a liquidation sale next month."

The room erupted into chaos. Shareholders stood up, shouting, waving the documents in Dad’s face.

Dad turned to Vanessa, his face drained of all color. "Vanessa... what is she talking about? Tell me this is a lie."

Vanessa’s facade cracked. She looked around the room, seeing her allies instantly back away. "Arthur, she's fabricating these documents! She's trying to destroy us!"

"I don't need to fabricate anything," I said quietly.

The back doors opened again. This time, two state troopers and an investigator from the Financial Crimes Division stepped into the room.

"Vanessa Bennett?" the lead investigator called out, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. "You are under arrest for grand larceny, corporate embezzlement, and wire fraud."
