CHAPTER 6 — “The Billionaire Offered Emily One Billion Dollars… To Stay Silent”

Richard Carter entered the mansion like he already owned it.
At seventy-two, he looked calm, elegant, and untouchable.
Expensive tailored suit.
Silver hair.
A smile that never reached his eyes.
Emily stood across from him.
"You destroyed my family."
Richard poured himself a glass of whiskey without asking permission.
"No," he replied.
"I built yours."
Emily stared at him in disbelief.
He placed a thick folder on the table.
Inside were documents showing dozens of companies, luxury properties, private islands, and offshore accounts.
Total estimated value:
$1.4 billion.
Richard smiled.
"All of this can be yours."
Emily looked up.
"In exchange for what?"
"Drop every charge against Daniel."
The room fell silent.
Emily laughed bitterly.
"You think you can buy me?"
Richard leaned closer.
"Everyone has a price."
Emily slowly closed the folder.
"You murdered my father."
Richard's smile disappeared.
"Careful."
"You can't prove that."
Emily reached into her purse.
"I don't need to."
She pressed Play on her phone.
Richard's face changed instantly.
His own voice echoed through the room.
"If Daniel had finished the job, none of this would have happened."
Richard's eyes widened.
"You recorded me?"
"No."
Emily smiled.
"You confessed the moment you walked in."
Hidden cameras installed by Michael had captured every word.
Outside, police vehicles silently surrounded the estate.
Richard realized the trap too late.
But instead of panicking...
He laughed.
A cold, terrifying laugh.
"You really think I'm the mastermind?"
Emily frowned.
Richard looked directly into her eyes.
"I was protecting you."
Emily's heartbeat stopped.
"What are you talking about?"
Richard pulled a worn photograph from his wallet.
It showed two newborn babies lying side by side in a hospital nursery.
One tag read:
Emily Harper.
The other read:
Unknown Female.
Richard whispered one sentence that shattered Emily's entire identity.
"You weren't the only daughter born that night."
"And your twin sister..."
May you like
"...is still alive."
