CHAPTER 7 — “The Twin Sister Walked Into the Funeral… Alive”

Emily couldn't breathe.
"A twin sister?" she whispered.
"My parents never told me I had a sister."
Richard Carter slowly nodded.
"They couldn't."
"They were afraid."
Michael slammed his fist on the table.
"Stop lying!"
Richard calmly slid another folder across the desk.
Inside was a birth certificate.
Two baby footprints.
Hospital records.
And one sentence highlighted in red:
Twin B transferred under emergency protection.
Emily's hands shook violently.
"This... this can't be real."
Richard looked directly into her eyes.
"The night you were born, someone broke into the hospital."
"They weren't looking for money."
"They were looking for your father."
"And when they couldn't find him..."
"They came for his daughters."
Emily felt the room spin.
"So my parents separated us?"
Richard nodded.
"One child stayed with your parents."
"The other disappeared into a witness protection program."
Emily stared at the photograph again.
The second baby's face had been partially torn away.
"Where is she now?"
Richard hesitated.
"I don't know."
"But someone else does."
Just then, the front gate alarm began screaming.
Michael rushed to the security monitor.
A black SUV had crashed through the entrance.
Armed men poured out.
Their leader held up a photograph.
Emily froze.
It was the exact same picture of the twin babies.
One of the men shouted into a megaphone.
"We're not here for Emily!"
"We're here for her sister!"
Gunfire erupted.
The mansion's windows exploded.
Bodyguards rushed Emily toward the panic room.
As the heavy steel door closed...
Emily caught one last glimpse of the attackers.
Every single one of them wore the same silver snake emblem on their jackets.
Richard's face turned white.

"Oh no..."
"They found us."
