Chapter 3 - The Boardroom Ambush

The following morning, the atmosphere inside the corporate headquarters of Carter Enterprises was suffused with tension. News of an emergency board meeting called by Evelyn Carter had spread through the thirty-story tower like wildfire.
Evelyn stood at the head of the mahogany conference table, clad in an immaculate navy suit, her eyes cold and calculating. Seated around her were the primary board members, stockholders, and legal representatives of the family empire.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Evelyn announced smoothly, resting her hands on the polished wood. "I have called this emergency session to address a severe breach of executive trust. My son, Daniel, has fallen under the manipulation of his wife, Emily. Last night, Emily attempted to stage a fatal accident at the estate to frame me and extort the family trust. Furthermore, I have evidence that Emily has been embezzling funds from our charitable foundation."
Gasps echoed across the room. Evelyn smiled inwardly—she had spent twenty-five years mastering the art of narrative control.
Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open.
Daniel walked in, his expression formidable. Beside him walked Emily, no longer wearing humble clothes, but a sharp grey tailored suit, her posture straight and her gaze unwavering. Behind them followed three federal officers and a man in a wheelchair—Dr. Harrison.
Evelyn’s smile froze.
"If anyone is being removed from this board today, Evelyn, it’s you," Daniel stated, dropping a massive binder onto the center table.
"What is the meaning of this insolence?" one of the senior board members demanded.

"That man in the wheelchair is Dr. Arthur Harrison," Daniel explained, pointing to the trembling elderly doctor. "Twenty-four years ago, he falsified medical records under Evelyn Carter's orders. Inside this binder are the original DNA comparison reports verified by two independent federal laboratories, along with the offshore account transactions tracing Evelyn's hush-money payments."
Emily stepped forward, looking directly at the woman who had abandoned her. "You framed me for embezzlement, Evelyn, but you forgot one detail. I managed the foundation's audit last month. The only offshore accounts draining funds from Carter Enterprises belong to a shell company in the Cayman Islands registered under your maiden name."
