Chapter 6 - The Mysterious VisitorThe morning sun filtered gently through the nursery curtains, illuminating the soft, peaceful faces of my three sleeping angels. For the first time in months, I felt a genuine sense of peace. Daniel was locked in a holding cell, awaiting his arraignment, and the corporate lawyers were fast-tracking an uncontested annulment.

Then, the doorbell rang.
Frowning, I checked the baby monitor, gently handed Maya to our live-in nurse, and walked downstairs. I half-expected a process server or a reporter from a local gossip blog sniffing around for a billionaire family scandal.
Instead, standing on the front porch was a young woman in her early twenties. She had nervous eyes, trembling hands, and a striking facial resemblance to someone I couldn't quite place.
"Can I help you?" I asked, opening the door cautiously.
"Are you... are you Helen?" the girl asked, her voice shaking.
"Yes. Who are you?"
The young woman swallowed hard, tears welling up in her eyes. "My name is Chloe. And... and I’m Daniel’s other wife."
The ground seemed to drop out from under my feet. I gripped the wooden doorframe for support. "His what?"
Chloe stepped inside, pulling a worn leather folder from her backpack. She laid out a stack of documents on the entryway table: a marriage certificate dated two years prior, medical bills, and photos of a toddler who looked startlingly like Daniel.
"We were married in secret in Las Vegas," Chloe sobbed, sinking into the armchair by the door. "He told me he worked overseas, that he had to travel constantly. He rented an apartment for me and our son, Leo. But for the last four months... he stopped sending money. He stopped answering my calls. Then I saw his face on the news for embezzling money, and I realized... I realized he was funding his lifestyle with another woman while starving his own family."

My blood boiled, not just with anger at Daniel, but with a fierce, protective sisterhood rage toward this innocent young woman who had been trapped in the exact same web of lies.
"Chloe," I said softly, walking over and kneeling beside her chair, putting a warm hand on her trembling shoulder. "You are safe now. Let's make sure he pays for every single lie."
