Chapter 13 - The Ex-Mistress’s DownfallWhile Daniel was rotting behind bars, the woman who had walked arm-in-arm with him through the airport arrivals terminal was facing a very different kind of nightmare.

Jessica thought she had traded up by ditching Daniel for a wealthy tech investor. But gold diggers built on lies rarely find solid ground.

Three weeks after Daniel's prison call, a glossy tabloid magazine landed on our kitchen island during breakfast. Splashed across the front cover was a high-resolution photo of Jessica looking furious outside a downtown courthouse, accompanied by the headline: MILLIONAIRE TECH HEIR FILES FRAUD LAWSUIT AGAINST FIANCÉE!

Chloe picked up the magazine, her eyes widening as she scanned the article. "Will you look at this? It turns out Jessica tried the exact same playbook on her new fiancé that she tried with Daniel. She lied about her background, forged financial documents, and tried to siphon funds into an offshore account."

I glanced over at the photo, feeling a strange mixture of amusement and poetic justice. "And what happened?"

"Her fiancé hired the exact same corporate audit firm that exposed Daniel," Chloe grinned triumphantly. "She’s facing asset seizure, lawsuits, and complete social ruin. Her high-society friends have completely blacklisted her."

Karma wasn't just a concept; it was an efficient, clockwork mechanism. Jessica and Daniel had sought to destroy our family for luxury and status, and in the end, they had completely destroyed each other.

"Let that be a lesson," Chloe remarked, tossing the magazine onto the recycling pile. "You reap what you sow."
