Chapter 8 - The Ultimate JudgmentThe jury deliberated for a remarkably short forty-five minutes.

When the foreperson stood to read the verdict, the tension in the room was palpable.
"On the charges of grand larceny and corporate embezzlement: Guilty. On the charge of bigamy and marital fraud: Guilty. On the charge of child abandonment and financial endangerment: Guilty on all counts."
Judge Henderson looked down from the bench at Daniel, who was trembling violently in his seat.
"Mr. Miller, your actions display a staggering level of narcissism, greed, and moral bankruptcy," the judge stated, his voice ringing with authority. "You manipulated multiple women, abandoned your infant children during a medical crisis, and stole from the company that generously provided your livelihood. I sentence you to twelve years in a federal correctional facility with no possibility of parole for the first six years. Furthermore, all remaining assets are seized and awarded jointly to your legal spouses as restitution."
Daniel buried his face in his cuffed hands, letting out a ragged, pathetic sob as the bailiffs grabbed his shoulders and hauled him backward through the wooden doors.
As he passed the aisle where I sat side-by-side with Chloe, Daniel raised his head, his eyes bloodshot and frantic.
"Helen! Chloe! Please! Don't do this!" he wailed, before being shoved out of sight.
Outside the courthouse, reporters swarmed us like bees. Microphones were thrust into my face, and flashbulbs flickered relentlessly.
A journalist shouted, "Mrs. Vance, what is your message to women going through betrayal today?"

I paused, looking directly into the camera lens with a calm, empowered smile.
"Never underestimate your own strength," I said clearly. "When someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time. And always check the wristwatches."
