Chapter 1 - The Angle of the LensThe ambulance doors slammed shut, cutting off the sight of Ryan’s panic-stricken face. It wasn’t guilt on his face; it was pure terror. Not terror for me, and not even terror for the child I carried. He was terrified of exposure

Inside the back of the ambulance, the paramedic monitored my vitals while I stared blindly at the flickering amber ceiling light. The physical pain in my abdomen was a white-hot knife, but the cold realization inside my chest burned even hotter.

But in his rush to protect Vanessa, in his knee-jerk instinct to shield his mistress and construct a lie that protected his assets, he had completely forgotten about the unblinking digital eye mounted right above the porch pillar.

He had no idea what was waiting for him on that hard drive.
