Chapter 10 - The Unbroken HorizonSix months later, the spring sun shone brightly through the nursery window, casting warm golden patterns across the freshly painted pale-blue walls.

I stood by the crib, smoothing down the soft cotton sheets with one hand while gently resting the other against my swollen belly. The baby kicked—a strong, defiant, joyful little thump that made me smile.

On the bedside table sat a small, framed photograph of Maya and me, taken on the day the final divorce papers were signed and every single asset of Ryan’s crumbling empire was legally transferred into my name.

My phone buzzed on the dresser. I picked it up, expecting an email from my new accountant.

Instead, it was an alert from the security app of my new, secure home on the other side of town.

I tapped the screen. The live feed loaded instantly, showing the quiet, sunlit front porch, the manicured lawn, and the brand-new, state-of-the-art security dome blinking its tiny blue light against the afternoon sky.

Unblinking. Watching. Protecting.

Ryan was behind bars. Vanessa was locked in a concrete cell. Their lies had turned to dust, swept away by the very technology they had been too arrogant to remember.

I locked the phone, placed it back on the table, and turned toward the window as a gentle breeze ruffled the curtains.

They were wrong. I had built a fortress out of the ruins, and nothing in this world would ever knock me down again.
