Chapter 14 - The Legal Ambush
Inside the conference room of the Miller-Hamilton Center for Justice, the digital clock glowed red: 2:15 PM. Clara, Adam, and Leo sat around the large glass table, staring at the documents Harrison Vance had delivered.
"This is completely absurd," Leo said, slamming his hand down onto the table. "Vance is filing an emergency injunction claiming that the transfer of the estate and the foundation's initial endowment funds were executed under 'duress and undue influence' during the criminal proceedings. He’s attempting to freeze all our assets and invalidate Clara’s exoneration."
"Can he legally do that?" Adam asked, his jaw clenched tight in suppressed rage. "The court cleared Clara unanimously."
"Normally, no," Leo explained, adjusting his glasses nervously. "Unless... unless he has backing from an external financial source or compromised officials within the appellate circuit who are willing to fast-track his motion. Vance is a desperate man, which makes him extremely dangerous. He’s using technical loopholes in property trust laws to claim the estate still belongs to the Hamilton corporate holding—which, technically, is still under Margaret’s ultimate share control."
Clara sat quietly, listening to the legal jargon. She looked at the photos of the smiling children and community workers framed on the office walls. They had fought so hard to build a sanctuary of truth, and now vultures were circling overhead, trying to tear it down.
"He wants to break us," Clara said calmly, her voice cutting through the panic in the room. "He thinks that by attacking our assets and threatening our legal standing, we'll back down out of fear."

"We won't back down," Adam declared fiercely, meeting her eyes. "I will liquidate my own personal accounts, sell off my remaining stock portfolios, and fight him in every court in this country if I have to. He will not touch you or this foundation."
"Fighting him in court isn't enough," Leo countered, leaning forward with a sudden spark in his eyes. "We need to find the source of his funding. Vance was broke a month ago; his firm dissolved. Where did he get the capital to launch a federal-level injunction?"
