Chapter 20 - The Long Table

Back in New York, three days later, the mansion was bathed in the warm, golden glow of a late autumn sunset.

The massive crystal chandelier in the dining room glittered brilliantly, reflecting off polished silverware and crystal glasses. But tonight, the table wasn't set for one, nor was it set for three.

It was set for five.

Arthur and Clara sat side by side, their hands intertwined, smiling as they watched Amara and Lily argue playfully over who got the largest dinner roll from the basket.

I sat at the head of the table, raising my glass of bourbon in a quiet toast as I looked around the room.

The empire I had built was no longer built on fear, secrecy, and lonely midnight calls. It was built on survival, truth, and the unyielding loyalty of people who had walked through the fire and refused to burn.

Lily caught my eye across the table and smiled, raising her small glass of apple juice toward mine.

"To family, Daddy," she said, her voice bright and clear.

I smiled back, clinking my glass gently against hers.

"To family," I whispered.

And for the first time in my life, the Boss didn't have to look over his shoulder anymore.
